About Our Program

City of Hope® is one of the largest cancer research and treatment organizations in the nation with locations in California, Arizona, Illinois and Georgia. Founded in 1913, City of Hope’s flagship hospital in Duarte, California, is one of the nation’s top 10 hospitals for cancer and a National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated comprehensive cancer center. This location is the hub for novel research and innovation, leading to the development of groundbreaking treatments.

With an independent, NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center at our core, City of Hope exports the innovation and expertise across our coast-to-coast clinical care network, which includes hematology and bone marrow transplantation programs, advanced surgical oncology, clinical trials, advanced precision medicine and cellular therapies. City of Hope brings a uniquely integrated model to patients, spanning cancer care, research and development, academics and training, and innovation initiatives.

Meet Our Experts

Our program is comprised of a multidisciplinary team of experts specializing in breast cancer, including surgeons, medical and radiation oncologists, interventional radiologists, supportive care team members and more. Several of our physicians hold faculty positions within City of Hope and externally and have obtained unique certifications.

Niru Anne, M.D.

Medical Director. Breast Cancer Program
Breast Cancer Surgeon

Dr. Anne is medical director of breast surgery. She has expertise in skin- and nipple-sparing mastectomy, as well as other less radical surgeries like wireless localization for breast tumors. Dr. Anne takes a compassionate, evidence-based approach to care that prioritizes her patients’ wishes and quality of life.

Sarah Friend, M.D.

Breast Medical Oncologist

Dr. Friend is a breast cancer specialist who is triple board-certified in hematology, oncology and internal medicine. She treats all types of breast cancer, including hormone-receptor positive, HER2-positive and triple-negative breast cancer, offering patients access to a wide range of options, from immunotherapy to targeted therapies and antibody drug conjugates.

Joannie M. Ivory, M.D., M.SP.H., M.H.S.

Medical Oncologist

Dr. Ivory is a breast medical oncologist who specializes in treatments including immunotherapy, endocrine therapy and chemotherapy. She is an award-winning physician-researcher focused on health disparities and equity in cancer care, including removing barriers to access for patients enrolling in clinical trials for cancer.

Henry Krebs - Interventional Radiologist

Henry Krebs, M.D.

Chief of Radiology
Interventional and Diagnostic Radiologist

Dr. Krebs brings over 35 years of experience harnessing the potential of interventional radiology techniques to offer patients advanced treatment options with fewer side effects. He has expertise in minimally invasive procedures, including cryotherapy, chemo- and radioembolization, and microwave tumor ablation. He also specializes in liver-directed therapy and advanced diagnostic approaches for breast cancer.

Amina Naqvi, M.D.

Medical Oncologist

Dr. Naqvi is board-certified in medical oncology and internal medicine, and treats all types and stages of malignancies, specializing in breast cancer and benign hematologic disorders. She works with a multidisciplinary team of experts dedicated to cancers that primarily impact women, providing expertise from screening and diagnosis through survivorship.

Radovich Delia

Delia Radovich, M.D.

Medical Oncologist

Dr. Radovich is a board-certified medical oncologist with 20 years of experience treating gastrointestinal and breast cancers. Her research is dedicated to advancing new strategies for cancer therapy and broadening access to innovative protocols through clinical trials. Fellowship-trained in medical oncology and hematology, she has been an honoree of the American Cancer Society and has been named a Castle Connelly Top Doctor for Cancer care every year for the past nine years.

Lily Shakibnia, M.D., M.S.c., D.A.B.R., F.R.C.P.C.

Chief of Radiation Oncology
Radiation Oncologist

Dr. Shakibnia is board-certified in radiation oncology licensed to practice in the United States and Canada. She specializes in innovative radiation therapies for breast, prostate, lung, gynecologic, and head and neck cancers, and is a well-published scholar who’s researched treatment toxicities, stereotactic radiotherapy and treatments for glioblastoma.

Nitika Sharma, M.D.

Medical Oncologist and Hematologist

Dr. Sharma specializes in breast, thoracic and gastrointestinal cancers. She provides patient-centered care using advanced therapies, including immunotherapy and targeted therapy, as well as next-generation diagnostics.
